# How do you solve 2.5x + 2.5= 10?

Jan 18, 2018

Solve like a normal linear equation.

$x = 3$

#### Explanation:

First we need to get all the variables $x$ on one side and all the constants on the other side.

In this case, we simply subtract 2.5.

$\therefore 2.5 x = 7.5$

Now we just $\div$ by 2.5 to isolate $x$

$\therefore x = 3$

For easier calculations, lets convert all the terms into fractions with same denominator:)

$\frac{5 x}{2} + \frac{5}{2} = \frac{20}{2}$

$5 x + 5 = 20$

$5 x = 20 - 5$

$5 x = 15$

$x = 3$

Verification:-

$2.5 \left(3\right) + 2.5$

$= 7.5 + 2.5$

$= 10$

$=$Right Hand Side

Hence Verified !

Cheers!
