Change side and divide by a:

$f \left(x\right) = {x}^{2} - \frac{5}{2} x - \frac{1}{16} = 0$

$f \left(x\right) = {x}^{2} - \frac{5}{2} x + \frac{25}{16} - \frac{25}{16} - \frac{1}{16} = 0$

${\left(x - \frac{5}{4}\right)}^{2} = \frac{25}{16} + \frac{1}{16} = \frac{26}{16}$

$\left(x - \frac{5}{4}\right) = \frac{s q r 26}{4} - \to x = \frac{5}{4} + \frac{s q r 26}{4}$

$\left(x - \frac{5}{4}\right) = \frac{- s q r 26}{4} - \to x = \frac{5}{4} - \frac{s q r 26}{4}$
