How do you solve #-3p = 5p - 4#?

First, transfer #5p# to LHS as we want all variables on one side and all numbers on the other,
while transferring, if the number is in (+) it will be in (-) which is the case here,
so, the first step will be,
#-3p-5p=-4#
Subtracting #-3p# from #-5p#
#-8p=-4#
The minuses(-) cut each other,
#cancel(-)8p=cancel(-)4#
#8p=4#
4 is divided by the 8 on LHS, it will be divided because it is in multiplication here(just like the upper case scenario, it always inverses)
#p=4/8#
#p=1/2#
or,
#p=0.5#
