You may do that by first grouping the like terms together,

#-5p+2p=-10-5#

#=> -3p=-15#

Divide both sides by #-3#

#=> (cancel(-3)p)/cancel(-3)=(-15)/-3#

#=> p=-15/-3 =5#

#p=5#
