# How do you solve for y 8x-12y = 24 ?

You may notice that all co-efficients may be divided by 4.

$\to 2 x - 3 y = 6$
Now put the $y$'s to one side, and the rest to the other:
$\to 2 x + 6 = 3 y$

Divide everything by 3:

$\to \frac{2}{3} x + 2 = y \to y = \frac{2}{3} x + 2$

Or:
You can solve for $x$:
$\to 2 x = 3 y + 6 \to x = 1 \frac{1}{2} y + 3$
