# How do you solve p=2l+2w for w?

Feb 5, 2015

You need to get $w$ on one side by itself.

Start out by subtracting $2 l$ from both sides.

$p - 2 l = 2 w$

Now since $w$ is being multiplied by 2 we need to divided both sides (all terms) by 2.

$\frac{p}{2} - l = w$

Giving us our solution of

$w = \frac{p}{2} - l$
