# How do you solve the equation for y: (2x)/ 5 - (x / 3) = 3?

Mar 23, 2018

You cannot...

#### Explanation:

In this equation you can not solve for $y$, for there is no $y$ in it.

But we can surely solve for $x$, which goes as follows :-

$\left(\frac{2 x}{5}\right) - \left(\frac{x}{3}\right) = 3$

(3×2x -5×x)/15=3

6x-5x=3×15

$x = 75$

$\therefore \textcolor{B r o w n}{x = 75}$
