# How do you solve the proportion 4.9/8.4=b/1.56?

We have
$\frac{4.9}{8.4} = \frac{b}{1.56}$

shifting $1.56$ to the L.HS (numerator)

$\frac{4.9}{8.4} \cdot 1.56 = b$

on solving:
b $= 0.58 \cdot 1.56 = 0.91$

So the proportion can be represented as:
$\frac{4.9}{8.4}$ $=$ $\frac{0.91}{1.56}$

note: on dividing each of the values on L.H.S and R.H.S we get value 0.58

hence L.H.S $=$ R.H.S and both are in proportion.
