If $\frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d}$, then $a \cdot d = b \cdot c$

$\left(x - 1\right) \cdot 35 = \left(4 x + 2\right) \cdot 5$

Using the Distributive Property of Multiplication, we get

$35 x - 35 = 20 x + 10$

$35 x - 20 x = 10 + 35$

$15 x = 45$

$x = \frac{45}{15}$
