Since $-4 !=6$ , then there is no solution

$3x+y=4$ --- (1)
$-6x-2y=12$ --- (2)

From (1)
$3x+y=4$
$y=4-3x$ --- (3)

Sub (3) into (2)
$-6x-2y=12$
$-3x-y=6$
$-3x-(4-3x)=6$
$-3x-4+3x=6$
$-4=6$

Since $-4 !=6$ , then there is no solution
