To solve:

  • clear the fractional term
  • re-arrange the terms

To clear the fractional term, multiply everything by 3

To re-arrange terms, add #1x+15# to both sides
#color(white)("XXXXX")##4x = 45#

then divide both sides by 4
#color(white)("XXXXX")##x = 45/4 = 11¼#
