# How do you write 5 into an improper fraction?

Nov 30, 2014

An improper fraction is one in which the numerator is larger than or equal to the denominator.

$5$ essentially is $\frac{5}{1}$, and so that's how you can write it in terms of an improper fraction.

Any number divided by $1$ is the number itself.

Other examples of this are:

(i) $\frac{2}{1} = 2$

(ii) $\frac{42791}{1} = 42791$

(iii) $\frac{8}{1} = 8$
