If you meant this question as displayed
#color(white)("XXXXX")##(sqrt(y)^2) = y#
and no fractional exponent is involved (#(3)(sqrty^2) = 3y#)

Similarly if you meant #(3)(sqrt(y^2))#
#color(white)("XXXXX")##(3)(sqrt(y^2)) = abs(3y)#

Perhaps you wanted: #root(3)(y)^2#
#color(white)("XXXXX")##= y^(2/3)#

or #root(3)(y^2)#
#color(white)("XXXXX")##= abs(y)^(2/3)#
