You can break it mechanically or chemically.

Explanation:

In order to break it mechanically you have to apply pressure to the polymer by grinding it or another way to reduce particle size. And chemically you can decompose it with heat, or with a substance that reacts with the active groups of the polymers and 'breaks' it.
