# How does adding salt change the physical properties of water?

$N a C l \left(s\right) \stackrel{{H}_{2} O}{\rightarrow} N {a}^{+} + C {l}^{-}$
The osmotic potential of the solution would be changed. The vapour pressure of the solution would be changed, along with the boiling point. The freezing point of the solution would be changed...and these changes would ALL be proportional to the number of particles, i.e. the number of ions, in solution....these are the so-called $\text{colligative properties...}$
