The object will accelarate at $\frac{1}{6}$ $\frac{m}{s} ^ 2$

Explanation:

According to Newton's Second Law

$F = m a$, where $F$ is force (here in Newtons), $m$ is mass (here in $k g$) and $a$ accelaration in $\frac{m}{s} ^ 2$.

Hence $4 = 24 \times a$

or $a = \frac{4}{24} = \frac{1}{6}$ $\frac{m}{s} ^ 2$
