Epidermis is repaired through the cycling of cells through the levels of the epidermis.

Explanation:

The main cells of the epidermis are called keratinocytes. As new keratinocytes are formed, old ones are pushed up to the surface of the epidermis as they die. By the time they reach the outer, visible surface of the skin they are dead. Injuries in the epidermis are fixed when the keratinocytes that have been damaged or removed are naturally replaced by new keratinocytes that are pushing up from the base layer of the epidermis.
