They are part of the same process.
Explanation:
Erosion cuts away at existing layers of the earth. Erosion creates sediments that are transported by wind and water.
Deposition is a natural result of erosion the sediments being transported have to be deposited somewhere. Deposition is where the sediments created by erosion are deposited.
