The old equation is ${C}_{1} {V}_{1} = {C}_{2} {V}_{2}$
The product $\text{concentration"xx"volume}$ has units of $\text{moles}$.........and given a dilution of a solute, of course the amount of solute will remain constant.
In this problem, ${V}_{2}$ is apparently SMALLER than ${V}_{1}$; you have CONCENTRATED the solution by (somehow) removing the solvent. With water this would be a hard thing to do. Would you review this question?
