# The angles of a triangle are in the ratio 3:4:5. How do you find the measures of the angles?

May 2, 2015

Let's call the angles $3 x , 4 x \mathmr{and} 5 x$

They must add up to ${180}^{o}$ in a triangle, so:

$3 x + 4 x + 5 x = 12 x = 180 \to x = 180 / 12 = 15$

So the angles are:
$3 \cdot 15 = {45}^{o}$
$4 \cdot 15 = {60}^{o}$
$5 \cdot 15 = {75}^{o}$

Check answer: $45 + 60 + 75 = 180$
