Cepheid variables (pulsating variable star) are special variable stars.

It changes in both brightness and size. One example of this pulsating variable star is the Polaris. It changes from bright to dim in a four-day cycle.

Pulsating variable star are called Cepheid variables because the first pulsating variable star was seen on the constellation Cepheus.
