Some methods include: distillation, crystallization and chromatography.

Distillation of two liquids can be used to separate a solution of two liquids that have different boiling points. Example: Distilling an ethanol water solution to produce a more highly concentrated ethanol which could be used as a fuel additive or a higher proof alcohol.

Crystallization removes a solute from solution by returning it to its solid state. Example: Crystallizing a sugar solution to make rock candy.
