They are used to determine the pull on a electron when there is covalent or ionic bonding.


Through electronegativity values you can find out if compound is polar,or non polar or what type of what type of intermolecular force they have which are td-id,pdd,h-bonding. In full form, they are temporary dipole-induced dipole, permanent dipole dipole and hydrogen bonding.
