Acid rain causes chemical reactions that harm sone buildings

Explanation:

many buildings are made of limestone and marble. These building materials are chemically made of Calcium carbonate which reacts with acids. The reactions is as follows

#Ca"CO_3 + H_3^+O = CO_2 + H_2O + CaO

the stone building basically dissolves into 'carbon dioxide water and calcium oxide. Some famous marble statues are dissolving and being damaged by acid rain.

Sulfur dioxide emitted by the burning of sulfur containing coal reacts with the water in the air to form acid. The reaction is as follows

#SO_2 + H_2O = H_2SO_3 #

#H_2SO_3# is sulfurous acid which will dissolve and damage stone buildings
