Well, it is a non-greenhouse source of energy.........and unlike solar power it is a base-load energy producer.........

And as far as we know, its environmental impact should thus be much less than coal-fired electrical generators. I once talked to an engineer at a nuclear plant and he told me that the waste produced by a nuclear power plant in a year would not fill a room; of course it has to be contained for a LONG period. Contrast this with the mountains of fly ash, and megatonnes of #CO_2# and #SO_2# emission produced in a year by a coal-fired generator.
