Nouns can be made possessive by adding an apostrophe + s, in other words an 's to the end of the word.

Explanation:

This sounds eerily like you're asking someone to do your homework for you, so while I won't give you a list of possessive words I will give you some guidelines on how to make a word possessive.

We use the possessive to show that something belongs or is an attribute of a noun. As I said above, nouns (a person, place, thing, or idea) can be made possessive by adding an 's to the end of the word. For example:

Poughkeepsie's weather is variable, it is hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

In the sentence above the weather is an attribute of "Poughkeepsie" (a city), essentially we can say that the weather "belongs" to Poughkeepsie.

Whenever something "belongs" to someone or something we add an 's to show that the next word in the sentence "belongs" to the previous word. Here's an image so you can better understand what I'm saying:
