In the human body, glands are of two types. They are 1. Exocrine Glands and 2. Endocrine Glands.

Exocrine Glands are meant for secreting enzymes that help for the purpose of Digestion.

Endocrine Glands are meant for secreting Hormones that involve in control and coordination of the body organs and their functioning.

The glands perform these functions :
1) They control the growth of ovaries and testes.
2) They secret pituitary, thyroxin, tridothyroxin, parathormone, adrenaline, testosterone, androsterone, estrogen, progestrogen and insulin hormones.
3) Gonad glands develop sexual characteristics in adolescence and puberty stage of boy and girl.
4) Parathyroid glands control calcium and phosphorus in body.
5) Adrenal glands maintain glucose level in blood.
