What does a box and whisker plot represent?

It is another method of displaying data like a stem and leaf diagram, pie chart or bar chart.
You only use 5 pieces of data, the lowest and highest values, the median(#L_2#) value and then the lower quartile(#L_1#) and the upper quartile (#L_3#).
The beauty of a box plot is that it splits the data up into quarters. Between the lowest score and #L_1# is a quarter of the data. Between #L_1# and #L_2# there is a quarter of the data.
Between #L_2# and #L_3# there is a quarter of the data.
Between #L_3# and the highest score there is a quarter of the data.
