What happens to proteins within the endoplasmic reticulum?

Endoplasmic reticulum sends the proteins in its lumen to Golgi complex, from where these are sent to lysosomes and secretory vesicles.
Explanation:
Ribosomes present on the surface of endoplasmic reticulum are delivering proteins directly inside lumen of ER.
Vesicles from ER fuse with Golgi complex and deliver the proteins in the lumen of Golgi vesicles.
In the Golgi, proteins are modified, packed and delivered to two different type of vesicles.
- Hydrolytic enzymes are channelled inside lysosomes .
- Proteins meant for use outside the cell (products like enzymes and hormones), are kept temporarily inside secretory vesicles before being secreted.
