# What ions are present in NaCl, Na2CO3, MgSO4, and NH4Cl?

Dec 18, 2015

In $N a C l$ we get the sodium ion $N {a}^{+}$ and the chloride ion $C {l}^{-}$.

In $N {a}_{2} C {O}_{3}$ we get 2 sodium ions and 1 carbonate ion $C {O}_{3}^{2 -}$.

in $M g S {O}_{4}$ we get a magnesium ion $M {g}^{2 +}$ and a sulphate ion $S {O}_{4}^{2 -}$.

In $N {H}_{4} C l$ we get an ammonium ion $N {H}_{4}^{+}$ and a chloride ion $C {l}^{-}$.

In each case these oppositely charged ions are held together by strong ionic bonds, and the molecules held together by strong intermolecular forces.
