The passive voice is used to focus on the person / thing affected by an action.

Normally, the performer of the action, comes first and is the subject of the verb, (This is the active form of the verb ). The other person / thing which is affected is the object of the verb.
E.g. : I teach you. ( Here, I am the subject and you are the object).

In passive voice, the person / thing which has been affected is the object of the verb and the performer of action becomes the object.
E.g. : You are taught by me. ( Here, you are the subject and I am the object ).

Hope this helps :)
