Facilitated transport means "easy" transport of bigger molecules across the membrane via proteins.

Since bigger and hydrophilic molecules cannot pass across the membranes by diffusion from the phospholipids, these molecules like #Cl^-# , #Na^+# and many more travel across the membrane by facilitated diffusion. It is also a passive process. It is same as diffusion but through a channel or path to make the transport more easier.
