Sulbactam extends ampicillin's antibacterial activity to include some beta-lactamase producing strains of bacteria.

Ampicillin inhibits the biosynthesis of cell walls and sulbactam acts as a suicide substrate for the beta-lactamases that occur in resistant bacterial strains.

What it does

Sultamicillin tosylate is used to treat a wide variety of infections, including:

  • Middle ear infections
