Astatine - As, on the periodic table is found in the fifteenth column of the periodic table Group VA this is the third column of the p block. Astatine is in the fourth energy level (row).

This means that Astatine must end with an electron configuration of #4p^3#
The total electron configuration would be
#1s^2 2s^2 2P^6 3s^2 3p^6 4s^2 3d^10 4p^3#

The noble gas Argon has an electron configuration of
#1s^2 2s^2 2P^6 3s^2 3p^6#

So we can replace this portion of Astatine's electron configuration with the noble gas notation [Ar]

This makes the electron configuration for Astatine - As
#[Ar] 4s^2 3d^10 4p^3#
