The furthest known star in the Milky Way galaxy is about 59,000 light tears away.
Explanation:
We don't actually know how big the Milky Way galaxy is. It is thought to be about 100,000 light years across. Recent discoveries could extend the distance to 160,000 light years.
The star UDF 2457 is a red dwarf star which has been estimated to be 59,000 light years away.
Given that the solar system is about 25,000 light years from the galactic centre, the furthest star in the galaxy would be about 75,000 light years away. We wouldn't be able to see it as it would be on the other side of the galactic centre which is too densely populated and bright to see beyond.
