The EPA protects people from risks to their health and risks to the environment. They work to ensure environmental protection is considered in policy and that people can access information to be actively involved in managing human health and environmental risks.

The EPA is responsible for issuing air quality standards, pesticide use for foods, groundwater regulation, and so forth. The EPA is responsible for the Energy Star program, the WaterSense program, and oversees the Safe Drinking Water Act as well as fuel economy for vehicles.
