$y = (x+7)(x-8)(x-8)$

$(x-8)^2$ means $(x-8)(x-8)$

$y = (x+7)(x-8)(x-8)$
$y = (x+7)(x^2-8x-8x+64)$
$y =(x+7)(x^2-16x+64)$

then break the (x+7) up,
$x(x^2-16x+64)+7(x^2-16x+64)$

$=x^3-16x^2+64x+7x^2-112x+448$

$=x^3-9x^2-48x+512$ is your final answer
