Total number of edges of an octagonal prism will be #24#.

Explanation:

An octagon is a polynomial with eight sides.

An octagonal prism will have two octagonal faces i.e. a total of #8xx2=16# sides as edges.

And additionally all eight corners of one octagon will be connected to eight corners of other octagon, forming #8# edges.

Hence total number of edges of an octagonal prism will be #16+8=24#.
