HCl in stomach is having bactericidal action. Along with food entry of bacteria is prevented.

Explanation:

In most of the vertebrate stomach hydrochloric acid is secreted. It kills bacteria along with food entered. Acid environment in stomach cuddles the milk.
Some of the proteins are broken down only in acid environment. Pepsin gastric enzyme acts in presence of hydrochloric acid.
Excess of acid in stomach is the result of irregular feeding habits and due to high meat diet.
Major cause of peptic ulcer is infection of Helobacter pylori. This bacteria survives in acid environment only.
