When skills such as running, climbing, and the ability to carry on conversations are being learned, a child is leaving the toddler stage and moving into the early childhood stage of development.

Explanation:

This development stage is also known as the pre-school stage.

In this age group, the skills such as running and climbing are being learned, but by no means perfectly, resulting in fits of emotion, frustration, and many tears, bumps and bruises.

Conversation is limited in the beginning with only a few words, but it will increase rapidly in content, syntax, and comprehension with age. Soon people other than Mom will understand what the child is saying.

Social skills are also developing, although the concepts of sharing or not being the center of attention may be harder to grasp for some children in this age group.
