What type of tissue are bones made of?

Bones are solid connective tissue, with mineralised matrix. Bony tissue is in dynamic state, being continuously laid down by osteoblasts while old osteocytes are removed by phagocytic osteoclast cells.

Explanation:

Bones form the endoskeleton in vertebrates. Each bone is covered from outside by periosteum, while bone marrow cavity is lined by endosteum.

Inorganic matrix of bone is made of mainly calcium and phosphate, some collagen is also present. Matrix is deposited in concentric layers (lamellae) as cells are present in concentric rows (lacunae).
