The Iron Curtain is an expression coined by Winston Churchill to describe the split of Europe beteween two entities: the pro-American West and the pro-soviet East.

Winston Churchill, former British Prime Minister gave a very solemn in Fulton(Missouri) in 1946 to denounce the threat of communism which took shape with the division between Western Europe and Eastern Europe. This split clearly announced the oncoming of the Cold War which was fuelled by the antagonism between capitalism and communism or between the USA and the Soviet Union.
