Most likely, a collision with the larger Andromeda Galaxy will cause the Milky Way Galaxy to be absorbed in about 4 billion years.

Explanation:

Good news: Because stars are so far apart, there is a good chance that our own Sun and Solar Syatem will survive the Andromeda collision unscathed.

Bad news: That won't save life on Earth. Independent of anything that happens with Andromeda, the Sun will already have become hot enough to boil off all the Earth's water.
