When did Hitler die?

1 Answer

1945

Explanation:

When the Gotterdammerung (1944) started, which was pretty much Germany's downfall, with the whole Allied Invasion on the Western Front (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_Normandy), and Operation Bagration going on in the Eastern Front (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bagration) Hitler knew it was just a matter of time before they capitulated.

When the Battle for Berlin was transpiring, Hitler knew that the situation was rather hopeless, there was really no way to win. He had been hiding in the Führerbunker, basically Hitler's little stronghold located in Berlin, with all his underlings. During the course of the Battle for Berlin, things such as this happened:

After such kerfuffles with the high command, a while later in April 28, 1945, Himmler attempted to make a surreptitious deal with the Allied leaders. Himmler was undoubtedly loyal to Hitler up until when it became apparent that they'd be dancing on the gallows. He then sought to succeed Hitler, and to somehow negotiate a armistice with the Allies for him to then take control of Germany. After Himmler tried to independently negotiate with the Allies, an observer noted that "Hitler's 'color rose to a heated red, and his face became virtually unrecognizable"

After that, Himmler realized it was a futile attempt, and killed himself.

On April 30, 1945, when the Soviets were 2 blocks away from Hitler's location, he put a bullet through his skull, whilst his wife that he married the 29th (Eva Braun) took cyanide. His body was taken out of the bunker, along with Eva's, and was doused in petrol and incinerated, in order to prevent a humiliating defilement of his body, like Mussolini's.
