Where are the social features on the Socratic app?
1 Answer
Hello, Socratic app users! The social features that once existed on the Socratic app won't be accessible anymore as of February 15, 2018. Here's what's up.
What’s happening?
Nothing has changed with the app’s primary features. You can still take a photo to get instant explanations to your toughest homework questions. Aces!
However, as of February 15, 2018, four secondary features will have been removed from the app:
- Chat
- Groups
- “Ask Friends” card
- Signup flow
This means that you’ll no longer be able to send messages or photos to friends, create groups, or use group chat. You’ll also no longer have access to any previous messages or photos sent in 1:1 chats or groups.
Why?
We built chat and groups into the app to provide a space where you could give and get homework help from friends. We hoped this would make the experience of doing homework even better for you.
But, only a small fraction of you are using these features. This has led us to believe that most of you are here to lean on Socratic for what it does best: to help you answer homework questions.
Going forward, we’ll focus exclusively on making Socratic excellent in finding and explaining answers to your homework questions. Cheers to that!
What’s next?
If you’ve been using chat or groups, first—thank you! We’re happy we could create a useful space for you and your friends. We know it might be a bummer to hear you’re losing access to these features, so we thank you for understanding that, as well.
If your chats contain any info you might want in the future (photos, homework material, conversations) please look through your chats and save that information ASAP. Take screenshots, write it down, or copy-and-paste it somewhere safe.
Please note: as of February 15, 2018, all chats and photos sent on the Socratic app will have been permanently deleted.
We hope you’ll continue to lean on Socratic for the best homework help on the Internet!
