Where is intracluster medium found?

1 Answer

An intracluster medium is usually permeated or spread throughout a cluster of galaxies.

An intracluster medium is basically super heated plasma,
which shows temperatures up to #10# to #100# MEGA KELVINS(#MK#) and is mainly composed of ionized hydrogen and helium and emits X- Rays.

The ions contain immense kinetic energy and hit other atoms or other baryonic materials; they are spread throughout the galaxy cluster.
