Distributive Property of multiplication over addition is involved.

For easier visualization, let's treat $x - 1$ $x - 1$ as one variable, say $y$ $y$

$y = x - 1$ $y = x - 1$

$3 x (x - 1) + 4 (x - 1)$ $3x(x - 1) + 4(x - 1)$

$\Rightarrow 3 x (y) + 4 (y)$ $=> 3x(y) + 4(y)$

$\Rightarrow (3 x + 4) (y)$ $=> (3x + 4)(y)$

$\Rightarrow (3 x + 4) (x - 1)$ $=> (3x + 4)(x - 1)$
