Who was the first governor-general of Pakistan?
1 Answer
Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the first Governor-General of Pakistan.
Explanation:
The title of Governor-General was granted by the British Monarch to her/his representative in those territories under British occupation.
After the creation of the two separate states of India and Pakistan in 1947, the Governors General in both countries were, respectively, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari in India, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Pakistan.
With the establishment of a republic in both these countries, the post of Governor General was abolished. In India, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari was the only Governor General as the republic was formed soon after independence in 1950, while in Pakistan, there were three others after Muhammad Ali Jinnah till Pakistan became a republic in 1956.
