Why do I get notifications about comments that aren't addressed to me?

My guess would be that you get notifications of comments that aren't addressed to you when you update another person's answer.
As I'm sure you know, when you edit an answer, any likes that respective answer receives will get you karma points, depending on what your % contribution is to the answer.
It's the same idea with comments. After you edit an answer, any comment posted on that answer will trigger a notification for all the people that contributed to that answer.
You can even get notifications about comments posted on questions you didn't even contributed to, but previously posted comments on.
I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to, so please feel free to leave some feedback, maybe someone from the Socratic team can explain this better.
