There are many reason why. Knowing what the microbe growing in a cut you have can give a person an idea what antibiotic can be used.
Using the wrong one can be a problem as the microbe will just "thumb" it's nose and laugh. It will not be affected at all. On top of that using the wrong one can cause the production of forms of antibiotic bacteria.
Next time you may need to use that antibiotic and those resistant forms will not be destroyed.
You may want to know what species of ant has made it's way into your house. Some are very nasty and bite. The baby and little kids will not be so happy. Then using the correct insecticide will produce good results.
And don't forget snakes, spiders, and wasps.
